The Chief of Police is given the statutory discretion to issue a license to carry a concealed firearms to residents within the community (Penal Code § 26150; Penal Code § 26155). The Shafter Police Department will fairly and impartially consider all applications to carry firearms in accordance with applicable law and department policy. The following information is intended to provide members of our community with a guide for the application and issuance process for such licenses pursuant to Penal Code § 26160.
Initial applicants for applying for a Carry Concealed Weapon (CCW) permit should start here by reading or downloading the Initial application document. Additionally, it is recommended that interested residents thoroughly review the Department's Policy regarding the licensing to carry a firearm in this city. That policy may be found by clicking HERE.
