Cinco de Mayo Celebration

Welcome .....On behalf of the Shafter Chamber of Commerce and Agriculture, Cinco de Mayo Committee, we wish to extend a special invitation and warm welcome to the entire community in joining us for a unique and fun celebration
on Saturday, April 29, 2017.

The downtown parade will bgein at 10:00 AM. The festivities will continue at Mannel Park immediately following the parade. No entry fees are required. A day of music, dancers, children's rides, arts, crafts, information, and various activities will be available; Including honoring our Grand Marshal and his or her family. Along with many great food booths, a mini carnival for the kids, and fun activities to be enjoyed by all. Festivities will continue throughout the day.

Bring your family and friends and enjoy the friendly atmosphere, delicious foods, and local and professional entertainment. Sponsor proceeds go to put on this
spectacular event. Awarding scholarships to deserving students at Shafter High School, as well as to non-profit Youth Organizations in our community.

them when you go into their business. It is with their support and generous
donations that has made the Cinco de Mayo Celebration possible for the city

Downtown Parade
The Downtown Parade will begin at 10 a.m. No parade entry fees are required. The parade route will travel from N. Shafter Avenue at Lerdo Hwy, northeast on Central Avenue to James Street, turning left on James travelling north to Calfornia Avenue and turning right on California Avenue to the North Kern Court Parking lot. Registration check-in for parade entries will be in the parking lot of Richland Junior High School, 331 N. Shafter Avenue. To register for the parade, please fill out the Parade Entry Form.

Festival at Ma‚Äčnnel Park

Festival booths are operated by various businesses, churches, schools and service organizations. To reserve a booth space, please fill out the Booth Application.


Take this opportunity to promote your business, agency or service organization. Community leaders, families, students, educators and churches will participate in the parade and park activities. This is a great time for non-profits to have a lucrative fund-raiser for their cause. At the same time, businesses and organizations can promote and advertise their services at the festival, and in the parade. If you are interested in becoming a sponsor, please fill out the Sponsor Form.

For the past 25 years, businesses and individuals have graciously sponsored the Cinco de Mayo Festival with generous donations. Your support has made it possible to deliver a quality festival and parade, as well as award scholarships, and offer monetary awards to local clubs and organizations that are school and community affiliated. Your support and sponsorship help meet the high expectations of this educational and cultural celebration for the community. People from all over Kern County, the San Joaquin Valley, and as far as Los Angeles and Phoenix, Arizona, participate in this unique festival. As a sponsor, advertisement of your company or organization will appear in the "Shafter Cinco de Mayo Program" Special Edition of The Shafter Press; delivered to all households in Shafter and the outlying areas just prior to the festival. In addition, sponsor announcements are made during the parade, and your business or organization name and logo are displayed at Mannel Park throughout the day of the Festival.
